C Ukraine and Ukrainian artist Luna Prysiazhhniuk are thrilled to announce our new art event — Petrykivka ornament painting on tote bags. Petrykiva ornament is a Ukrainian folk art form that is known for its floral motifs and vibrant colors. The instructors will tell you more about the technique, provide the supplies, and guide you through the process. After practicing on paper, every participant will get a chance to decorate a tote bag with Petrkyivka ornament for themselves or their loved ones. As a part of the Art for Ukraine initiative, the workshop aims to raise money for the reconstruction of a hospital in Eastern Ukraine. By participating in the workshop, you’re helping us restore a medical facility that saves Ukrainian lives every day. Erin Litteken, the author of The Memory Keeper of Kyiv, is coming to C Ukraine to present her new book, The Lost Daughters of Ukraine. In both of her novels, the author was inspired by the stories of her grandma, who was a Ukrainian WWII refugee. The Lost Daughters of Ukraine is a story of love, hope, and resilience, which follows three Ukrainian women during WWII as they go through the horrors of the war. At the event, you'll get a chance to meet Erin Litteken, join a moderated discussion, and get a signed copy of the book. The event will be held in English. No registration needed.

C Ukraine is excited to invite you to a new workshop where you'll get a chance to make a Ukrainian wreath, a traditional headband worn on special occasions. We'll be making special Poltava-style hair wreaths with pompoms, ribbons, and beads. The workshop will be led by Anna Lomachenko, an artist from Ukraine who is studying Fine Art at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Together with Anna, you'll create your very own hair wreath, which you're welcome to take home with you. The event will be held in English on August 27, from 7pm to 9 pm.
